Sketch of Suspect
Palo Alto, CA -- Police are asking for the public's help with identifying a man observed masturbating in his parked vehicle on a busy downtown street last weekend.

On Saturday, January 11, 2014, at about 5:39 p.m., a woman in her thirties called 9-1-1 to report that she had just seen a man masturbating while sitting his parked vehicle in the 400 block of Ramona Street in downtown Palo Alto.  The man drove away immediately.  Officers checked the area but were unable to locate the car or the suspect.

The investigation revealed that the victim had been walking southbound along the east sidewalk of the 400 block of Ramona Street, just north of University Avenue.  She happened to look through the windshield of a car parked on Ramona Street facing northbound.  She saw a man sitting in the driver’s seat, masturbating.  The victim knocked on the passenger’s side window and yelled at him.  The man then drove away northbound on Ramona Street, and she called police.

The victim described the suspect as a "Middle Eastern or Hispanic" male between 30 and 35 years old.  He was wearing a thin-striped, short-sleeved T-shirt and jeans.  His jeans remained on during the incident, but were unzipped and open.  He was lightly unshaven.  The victim later met with a police sketch artist, who produced the attached sketch.  The suspect’s vehicle was a newer black 4-door Toyota Camry with tinted side windows.  The vehicle had paper license plates.

Detectives are investigating this incident.  There have been no other recent similar crimes of which we are aware.
