Palo Alto, CA –Police are looking to identify two suspects who robbed a woman while she was standing outside a restaurant at the Stanford Shopping Center.

On Saturday, November 2, 2019 at around 7:24 p.m., our 24-hour dispatch center received a report of a strong-arm robbery that had just occurred. The preliminary investigation revealed the female victim in her thirties was outside talking on her mobile phone on the east side of the Stanford Shopping Center located at 180 El Camino Real. Two male suspects came up behind her and one grabbed the phone out of her hand. Both suspects ran northbound on El Camino Real. The female victim chased the suspects to Sand Hill Road and into El Camino Park located at 155 El Camino Real. She stopped when realizing it was not safe. The victim flagged down someone nearby to call 9-1-1. Officers arrived and worked with the victim to track the phone. Police recovered and returned all of the victim’s property which included her phone and case containing her ID and credit card. The items had been discarded in the park. The victim did not sustain any injuries.

The victim described both suspects as being black male juveniles between 15 to 16 years old, 5 feet 7 inches tall with a thin build. Both wore black hooded sweatshirts and dark sagging jeans. Detectives are looking to see if video surveillance footage is available. If any is found that is helpful in identifying the suspects, we will release the images. Police do not believe this robbery is related to any other recent incidents.
