CPAU Receives Smart Energy Provider Award from APPA

The City of Palo Alto Utilities (CPAU) was recently announced a designee of the American Public Power Association Smart Energy Provider (SEP) Award for the third year in a row. The SEP designation recognizes public power utilities for demonstrating leading practices in four key disciplines: smart energy program structure; energy efficiency and distributed energy programs; environmental and sustainability initiatives; and the customer experience. This is the third year the Association has awarded this designation to public power utilities.

Through the Smart Energy Provider program, utilities have a chance to learn, grow, and improve their smart energy practices, as well as serve as an example for others striving for excellence in these areas.

"The City of Palo Alto Utilities has delivered cutting-edge energy services for decades, and we've increased our focus on sustainability such as through programs for distributed energy resources and electrification," said Dean Batchelor, director of utilities. "Customer satisfaction is a priority for us, and we try to be a partner and resource for our customers to ensure we meet their needs as a smart energy provider."
