Beware of Utilities Scams

Hand coming out of phone stealing money.

Beware of scams! Throughout the year, we may hear from customers who are contacted by scammers pretending to be from the City of Palo Alto Utilities. They may tell you your utilities account balance is past due, you must pay immediately or risk disconnection, or try to convince you of other means to give them money. Be careful!

If you suspect you are being contacted by scammers or are a victim of a scam, please hang up and call the Palo Alto Police Department non-emergency 24-hour dispatch center at (650) 329-2413.

Remember, you can always check your account info online at www.cityofpaloalto.org/mycpau or call Utilities at (650) 329-2161 to verify payment and account status.
