Palo Alto Solid Waste Processing Contract

Request for Council Approval of a new service contract that addresses the processing of residential and commercial solid waste collected within the City. The project will increase the City’s diversion rate for materials placed in the black solid waste containers from 29.68% to 70.45% and result in an additional 7,868 tons/per year of diversion. The project will change where the waste is processed as well as the final landfill location for any residuals. No changes to the collection of materials within the City are proposed as part of the project.
Environmental Assessment: A Negative Declaration has been prepared in accordance with the California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA). Circulation of the document begins on February 5, 2021 and ends on February 25, 2021.
