Highway 101 Project Concrete Pouring

As part of the Highway 101 Pedestrian/Bicycle Bridge project, the City has finalized a new installation schedule for two of the three prefabricated steel bridge segments across West Bayshore Road and East Bayshore Road.

The following closures will be in effect for the installation of these segments:

  1. West Bayshore Road closure: Thursday, April 29 at 8 p.m. until Friday, April 30 at 6 a.m.
  2. East Bayshore Road closure: Friday, April 30 at 8 p.m. until Saturday, May 1 at 6 a.m.

Motorists are advised to expect delays and allow extra time for their commute. Please follow posted detour signs.

The segment across Highway 101 is a unique oversized load, and its transport route and permitting are still under review. The bridge section will be transported from Arizona to the jobsite in Palo Alto, and requires State and Inter-State transport permits including the California Highway Patrol escort. The contractor and its hauling company are coordinating the appropriate route and permitting with various State departments. The City will provide more information on installation of this segment as soon as the contractor obtains the necessary permits. Staff anticipates installation of this segment over Highway 101 to occur in May.

Thank you for your patience and support.
