All Are Welcome to a Special Community Birthday Party on Sunday, May 15!

PALO ALTO, CA– The Palo Alto Art Center celebrates 50 years of arts programming in the community this spring with a free community birthday party on May 15.

The Art Center, originally called the Palo Alto Community Cultural Center, was created in 1971 by the community for the community, serving as a testament to the potential of collective action.

“The Palo Alto Art Center’s 50th anniversary provides a chance to reflect on the numerous ways the Art Center’s exhibitions, classes, events, and school programs have made an impact on thousands of people in our community,” said Karen Kienzle, Palo Alto Art Center Director. “This milestone birthday also provides a chance for us to look forward to our future as we continue to provide relevant and meaningful arts programs to the public, working towards our vision to make art an essential part of everyday life.”

This anniversary also provides an opportunity to showcase the role of the Palo Alto Art Center Foundation, which was established in 1973 to support the Art Center in fundraising and advocacy. Nidhi Gupta, Palo Art Center Foundation President, Board of Directors stated, “The Art Center’s 50th anniversary provides a chance to celebrate not only the Art Center’s programs, but also the Foundation’s fundraising and advocacy role in enhancing them for greater participation and impact.”
