Project Description

Replacing asbestos cement and other aging pipelines with high density polyethylene mains.

Scope

The work to be performed under the contract includes installation of approximately 18,763 linear feet of new water mains of various sizes, 256 new water services, 40 new fire hydrants, and 82 gate valves. The new main sizes range from 8” to 12” in diameter. The new mains will be installed by open trench or by horizontal directional drilling methods. 

Project Timeline

The project duration is approximately 1 year and 7 months, or 379 working days. 

Construction is scheduled to start on April 18, 2022.

Weather delays may impact duration of construction. 

Working Hours

Work will typically be performed Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

There are restricted work hours applied to major streets and streets within a certain proximity of schools.

As of 3/8/2023
Area I – Matadero Avenue Area (including El Camino Real between Hansen and Matadero Ave)
Installation completed.

Area II – Dinah’s Court/Wilkie Way Area
Installation completed.

Area III – Edgewood Drive Area
Contractor has been working  in the area. Completion is anticipated by mid-April 2023. 
 
Area IV – Birch Street between California Ave and Cambridge Ave
Construction is anticipated to begin in April 2023.

Area V – Oak Creek Drive Area
Work is anticipated to start at the end of April 2023.
