Project Description

The Natural Gas Main Replacement Project 23 will replace approximately 22,300 linear feet of polyethylene (PE) gas main, 142 new PE gas service pipelines, and to reconnect 64 existing PE gas services to the new gas main within the City of Palo Alto. The Project targets replacement of Polyvinyl Chloride (PVC) gas mains and gas services that are nearing their operational life expectancy and have become brittle over time. The project also targets replacement of steel mains and services that are identified to be severely corroded due to the lack of cathodic protection.

Scope of Work

Replacing the gas distribution system with PE

  • Installation of PE gas main and new gas services. 
  • Reconnection of existing PE gas service to the new PE gas main. 

Project Status 

The contractor has completed the installation of natural gas lines on Dennis Drive, Celia Drive, Agnes Way, and Burnham Way and is now working on the area's restoration.

Construction work on California Avenue began on January 6, 2022.
