Project Description

This project will convert the primary electric distribution system in the East Charleston/Alma Street/East Meadow Drive/Middlefield Road area from 4kV to 12kV. 

Scope of Work

  • Replace and install new air switches for the ability to redistribute and backup power.
  • Replace utility poles that are in poor condition.
  • Replace pole hardware with equipment rated for 12kV.
  • Replace overhead and pad mount distribution transformers that have reached the end of its useful life.
  • Replace pole top transformers with pad mount transformers where possible.
  • Underground primary lines where feasible.
  • Convert primary voltage from 4kV to 12kV after all equipment has been replaced. 

Project Status

The project is split into 6 design and construction phases. Engineering design for Phase 1 is in-progress.

    Spring 2021 - Summer 2021

    • Substructure installation and utility pole work for Wright Place and Starr King Circle.
  • Phase 2

    Fall 2021 - Spring 2022

    • Substructure installation and utility pole work for Carlson Circle and Redwood Circle.

     

  • Phase 3

    Fall 2021 - Spring 2022

    • Substructure installation and utility pole work for Ramona Circle and Roosevelt Circle.

     

  • Phase 4

    Fall 2022 - Spring 2023

    • Substructure installation and utility pole work for South Court and Bryant Street, between East Meadow Drive and Redwood Circle. 

     

  • Phase 5

    Fall 2022 - Spring 2023

    • Substructure installation and utility pole work along Redwood Circle between South Court and Lindero Drive. 

     

  • Phase 6

    Fall 2023 - Spring 2024

    • Substructure installation and utility pole work along East Meadow Drive and E Charleston Road between Middlefield Roads and the Waverly Bike/Pedestrian path.
