Beeswax Wraps

Beeswax wrap around bowl of fruit

Natural beeswax wraps are a good, natural and reusable substitute for plastic wrap for food storage. They are made of cloth covered in beeswax. The beeswax is lightly sticky and adheres to itself when wrapped around something.

You can use them to cover a bowl, like you would use plastic wrap or even aluminum foil. Since these wraps are reusable, there isn’t any waste.

Warm the wrap with your hand and shape into place over the bowl, and it sticks to itself. It’s not a tight seal, though, so don’t turn the bowl over.

You can also use beeswax wraps to pack up sandwiches or other foods when you’re on the go. Some brands also offer reusable ties or bands to help keep the food wrapped tightly.

When finished, simply wash with cool water and let dry—and it’s ready to be used again. They should last about a year with proper usage and care!

Replacing your regular use of plastic wrap or foil with reusable beeswax wraps will help Palo Alto zero out disposable waste! While both plastic wrap and aluminum foil are recyclable, using reusable wraps saves the energy and natural resources needed to make and recycle plastic wrap and foil.
