Rinconada Park Long Range Plan

The Rinconada Park Long Range Plan is an evaluation of the park and its amenities to guide future improvements and renovations, analyzing current site conditions as well as community uses. The long range plan provides insight into how the park is currently being utilized and identifies areas in which the park is underserved. The long range plan will be used to guide the future renovations and development of the park, dividing the work into scheduled phases over the next 25 years.

Due to the age of Rinconada Park and the increased number of renovations needed to maintain the park over the next decades a long range plan process was initiated to identify and prioritize future park renovations and upgrades. The long range plan will establish a phasing plan that will guide the use of future capital improvement funds for park renovations and will also identify new improvements to the park to meet community demands.

The long range plan also focused on ways of better connecting the adjacent community facilities surrounding the Park, which include the Lucie Stern building, the Junior Museum and Zoo, the Girl Scout House, Walter Hayes Elementary, the Aquatic Center, the Palo Alto Art Center and Main library, providing clear direction to each. Strengthening the connections to the surrounding facilities enhances Rinconada Park as the central feature and main link to these cultural and community assets.

Project Goal

The goal of the Rinconada Park Long Range Plan is to prepare a document that will guide future improvement and renovation of Rinconada Park over the next 25 years.
