Field and Tennis Court Reservations

The City of Palo Alto brokers all City athletic fields, tennis courts, and Palo Alto Unified School District fields and courts.

Tennis courts are available for reservation for Palo Alto Tennis Club and USTA tournament/match use only. Otherwise, tennis courts are available for individual use on a first-come, first-served basis.

September 29, 2022 Update: Mayfield North Field Closure

Staff continues to work towards a solution to repair Mayfield Turf fields. At this time, it has been recommended that they City remove the deteriorating infill and replace it with a higher grade infill. Before moving forward contractors have suggested to staff that a small test be conducted on the field to ensure that the infill can be removed without excessive damage being done to the turf blades. We are working on getting that done as soon as possible. With the information received from the test, staff will go out to bid for the repair of Mayfield North and South. The hope is to have the work done in late November or early December timeframe, but the timing isn’t certain at this point. The work is anticipated to take approximately 12 days (weather permitting) and both fields will need to be closed during that time.

Staff also intends on submitting a capital improvement project request for the complete replacement of synthetic turf field at El Camino Park in fiscal year 2024 and the synthetic turf fields at Mayfield in fiscal year 2025. This is in keeping with the approximate eight to ten year projected lifespan of synthetic fields.

Note: All fee listed are per hour. 

Insurance

All users must provide a Certificate of Insurance showing general liability coverage in the amount of $1,000,000 or more, naming City of Palo Alto as additional insured at the location(s) of their use.

Procedure for Providing Your Own Insurance

  1. Purchase the required insurance for both bodily injury and property damage. Ask your insurance broker to a combined single limit. The amount of insurance is set by the City of Palo Alto; the premium for the insurance you purchase is set by your broker with the insurance company. (One million dollars, $1,000,000, is the minimum requirement for all uses. High risk activities require additional coverage.)
  2. Under the section “Description of operations, locations, vehicles, special items” place the following phrase, City of Palo Alto, as an additional insured.
  3. Under the section “Certificate Holder” place the following:

  4. Ask your insurance broker to send a signed Certificate of Insurance via email to playingfields@cityofpaloalto.org, via fax (650)856-8756 or mail to:

Requesting Fields and Courts

Search the availability calendar by selecting the "Facility Rentals" tab, then selecting the desired park/location to see the list of fields/courts. While our facility schedule is up to date, there may be pending bookings at any point in time.

 

Once you have searched for field/court availability, please submit the corresponding Request Form at least two (2) weeks before your requested date(s). Recreation staff will follow up with you in 2-3 business days to provide an estimate and collect initial payment.
