About the artist
Hinkle is a multidisciplinary visual artist, writer, performer, and healer. Her most recent works focus on climate change, justice for the earth, and the significance of Black people’s historical and current relationships to water. She has been researching places like Allensworth, CA; Flint, MI; and Bayview Hunters Point—locations associated with the Great Migration, Black utopias, and new opportunities spoiled by water pollution.
