Danae Mattes

About the artist

Danae Mattes describes nature as her very first studio, and her work demonstrates a deep reverence for the natural world. Her mixed-media paintings and sculptural installations reflect the vibrant ecosystems and natural processes at work around us. While Mattes is best known for her experimentation with the material of clay, she is particularly interested in water as a vital element and source of life.
