Asian American and Pacific Islander Heritage Month

AAPI Heritage Month

May is Asian American and Pacific Islander (AAPI) Heritage Month and we are celebrating with a series of events hosted by the Library, Community Services Department, and many community partners. These groups have come together to deliver a series of events for our entire community to recognize and celebrate the culture and contributions of our AAPI community. Happy AAPI Month!

Koi Sculpture Art Kit

Palo Alto Art Center is offering kits to make koi sculptures. In Asian cultures, koi are often associated with strength of character, perseverance, accomplishment and courage. The fish also symbolize good fortune, success, prosperity and ambition. Participants can order a kit online and pick it up at the Art Center. Instructions, tools if needed, and underglazes are included in the kit. Participants create the ceramic sculpture at home and then return it to the Art Center for firing. The finished projects are then available for pick-up. The cost is $25 per kit. Contact the Art Center at (650) 329-2366 or artcenter@cityofpaloalto.org for more information.
