On August 10, 2022, the City Council held a special meeting, which was a continuation of the Council’s fiscal sustainability discussions. At the meeting, the City Council voted to place two measures on the November 2022 ballot, one to establish a new business tax (Measure K) and the other to affirm the decades old practice of annually transferring a percentage of revenues from the natural gas utility to the City’s general fund (Measure L). The measures will generate approximately $16.6 million in revenue annually. Both measures were approved by Palo Alto voters in the November 8, 2022 general municipal election.
