Boards and Commissions Recruitment
The City of Palo Alto has eight Boards and Commissions appointed by the City Council. The Boards and Commissions focus on specific areas of discussion. Members volunteer their time and expertise to review items before they are reviewed by the City Council. All Boards and Commissions have a term end-date for either the Spring or Fall. Recruitment Status Meanings
We continuously accept applications, regardless of current openings. This applies for all Boards and Commissions.
- Now Recruiting: We are actively recruiting. There is an open position for a Board or Commission. We are accepting applications.
- Recruitment Closed - Accepting Applications: There are no open positions available. We are accepting applications for when a position opens up.

More information to note...
If a commissioner resigns in the middle of a term, the City Council will decide on the next steps. On a case-by-case basis, they can hold a special recruitment. The City Council can also wait until the next scheduled recruitment to fill the position.
The City of Palo Alto complies with the Maddy Act(PDF, 76KB) (Government Code Section 54970). As such, all scheduled vacancies on the City Boards and Commissions for the following year are listed and posted annually by December 31st.
