The City of Palo Alto is committed to ensuring accessible content for users with all types of disabilities. As the City continues to work towards building a more accessible website, we are excited to be developing a new site that follows the guidelines and success criteria provided by WCAG 2.1, focusing on these key elements:
- Accessible online forms
- Images with alt text
- Accessible PDF documents
- Descriptive link text Audio and visual captions and transcripts
Additionally, website testing is done both internally and externally with the use of screen reader technology.

Accessibility Policy
It is the policy of the City of Palo Alto to offer its public programs, services and meetings in a manner that is readily accessible to all.
ADA Transition Plan
The City of Palo Alto has contracted with SZS Consulting Group to update the City's ADA Transition Plan. The work to be performed under this contract includes the evaluation of site and program accessibility compliance to provide the basis for identification, prioritization, budgeting, and implementation of plans, as well as an updated plan and database which will be used in continuing efforts to comply with accessibility requirements as established by the ADA and State of California Building Code (CBC) accessibility provisions.

Request for Assistance
Persons with disabilities who require materials in an appropriate alternative format, auxiliary aids, or modifications to policies or procedures to access City meetings, programs, or services should contact the City's ADA Coordinator George Hoyt at (650) 329-2550 or by emailing ADA@cityofpaloalto.org.
Requests for assistance or accommodations should be submitted as soon as possible but no later than 48 hours in advance of a scheduled meeting, program, or service.
File a Grievance Report
Complaints that a program, service, or activity of the City of Palo Alto is not accessible to persons with disabilities should be directed to the City's ADA Coordinator George Hoyt.
