San Francisco Bay and our local creeks are valuable resources that are important to wildlife and to the Palo Alto community. The City of Palo Alto works to protect the Bay and creeks in a variety of ways. The City owns and operates the regional wastewater treatment plant that serves Palo Alto and five adjoining communities. Our Bay Protection programs include regulation of industrial and commercial businesses, as well as information for residents on how to reduce pollution from their households and daily activities. The Flood and Stormwater program includes promoting water conservation and innovative ways to reduce stormwater runoff. The Open Space division provides a variety of opportunities for residents to learn about the Palo Alto Baylands ecosystem and conservation efforts.
