Palo Alto, CA -- Palo Alto firefighters and police officers and other city staff will be involved in a series of training exercises during the month of October. Exercises will take place on Oct 15, 23 and 27 and will be located at 901 San Antonio Road.

"We just want to make sure that residents and businesses in the area know what's going on. There's going to be some smoke, noise and activity to provide realism for the training," said Kathy McKenna, Homeland Security Coordinator for Palo Alto. "In a real emergency, many different services are needed, so that's why we are conducting cross departmental training."

Members of the media who wish to view the exercise will be given special access and a briefing as they would during a real emergency.

Fencing and signage will go up along the perimeter of the area around 901 San Antonio prior to the exercise. Questions about the training should be addressed to the Deputy Fire Chief, Judy Jewell at 329-2489.
