POLICE
PERSISTENCE RESULTS IN TWO ARRESTS FOR ROBBERY
|
Palo Alto, CA -- On June 17 2003 at 2:37 AM Palo Alto police
received a call from a man who said that two males had taken his
money and threatened to stab and kill him.
Officers determined that the victim and two suspects had been at
Antonio's Nut House drinking. The two suspects and victim met and
began to talk. The parties left the bar together in search of a
ride home.
At that time the suspects inquired if the victim was a police officer.
When the victim denied it, the suspect asked the victim to prove
it by providing identification. The suspects took the victim's wallet
to inspect the identification. The suspects removed $300.00 in cash
from the victim's wallet. When the victim demanded his money back,
the suspects told him that they had a knife and would stab him.
No weapons were brandished. The suspects fled on foot.
Police spotted the two suspects in the area of Kingsley Avenue
and Cowper Street. A perimeter was set up using several officers
from Menlo Park PD., Stanford University DPS, and Mt. View PD. Just
after 3:00 AM police spotted the suspects in the area of Waverley
Street and Kingsley Avenue. Both suspects fled from police and a
short foot pursuit ensued. Police apprehended one of the fleeing
suspects, later identified as Theodore Glaster, 5-21-85 out of E.
Palo Alto.
The second suspect jumped a fence and hid in the residential neighborhood
for nearly five hours. At approximately 7:45 AM, Palo Alto Officer
Tannock located the suspect hiding in the back yard of a residence.
The juvenile suspect was taken into custody with the assistance
of a police canine then transported to Stanford Emergency Room for
medical clearance.
Glaster was booked into the San Jose Main Jail for Strong Armed
Robbery and resisting arrest. Glaster is being held until the magistrate
sets bail. The juvenile suspect was booked into the Santa Clara
County Juvenile Hall for Strong Armed Robbery and resisting arrest.
