POLICE SURROUND HOUSE ON "MAN WITH A GUN" CALL

Palo Alto, CA -- At 9:39 am today, Palo Alto Police received a call of gunshots that were heard near the 400 block of Embarcadero Road. The reporting party said he saw a male run into a residence carrying what looked to be an assault rifle. Officers immediately responded to the area and set up a perimeter around the residence in question. After speaking to the resident of the home, it was determined that the male was firing a paint ball rifle and not an assault rifle. Officers entered the residence and detained the male subject without incident. The subject was taken to Valley Medical Center in San Jose and placed on a W&I 5150 hold for psychological evaluation. No injuries were sustained and officers retrieved the paint ball gun.

The name and address of the subject is being withheld due to the fact that he was admitted for psychological evaluation. No criminal charges are pending at this time.
