Palo Alto Swears in New Police Chief

Palo Alto, CA -- Lynne Johnson will be sworn in as Palo Alto's eighth Chief of Police in a ceremony on Monday, May 19 from 10:00 to 11:00 am in City Council Chambers, 250 Hamilton Avenue, Palo Alto. The event is free and open to the public.

Johnson has been with the Palo Alto Police Department for the past 28 years and served as a Field Training Officer, Research Analyst and Watch Commander. She moved up through the ranks of sergeant, lieutenant, captain and assistant chief. Johnson replaces previous chief Patrick Dwyer, who was with the City for five years.

The ceremony will start with a color guard and the National Anthem, then introductions and speeches prior to the swearing in and badge pinning. There will be a short reception after the event.
