SPECIAL
SCHEDULE FOR PALO ALTO LIBRARIES
ON FRIDAY, APRIL 11
Palo Alto, CA -- All facilities of the Palo Alto City Library
will be closed until 2 p.m. on Friday, April 11, so employees can
attend a special staff-development session. All libraries will be
open only from 2 to 6 p.m. that day, except Children's Library which
will be open from 2 -5 p.m. Main Library will not be open that evening.
The Friday toddler and pre-school program held at Mitchell Park
branch will be cancelled on this date.
Even while the libraries' doors are closed, the public will have
access to certain library services:
Book drops will be open for borrowers to return materials, which
will be checked in as if they had been returned the previous day.
Borrowers will be able to use TeleCirc, the library system's
automated telephone renewal system, to identify and renew items
they have checked out. The telephone number for TeleCirc is 650/326-5374
and requires a library-card number for access.
The library's computerized catalog will be available as usual,
either on the Web at http://webcat.cityofpaloalto.org,
by Telnet at telnet://lib.cityofpaloalto.org,
or by direct modem dial-up at 650/322-5441. This connection will
also enable borrowers with their library-card number to place
reserves, check the status of their existing reserves, and view
and renew the items they have charged out.
Reference questions may be submitted electronically by going
to the Web at www.cityofpaloalto.org/library/reference/question.html
and following the instructions on the displayed page. The reference
staff will respond within 48 hours.
All libraries will resume their regular schedules on Saturday,
April 12.
