Roth
Building Seeking Non-Profit Tenants
|
Palo Alto, CA -- Non-profit organizations looking for space
can submit proposals for an option to lease the Palo Alto Roth building.
Because of the amount of time organizations may need to develop
partnerships and identify sources of funding, proposals are not
due to the City until November 25, 2003.
"We're looking for qualified non-profit organizations to
develop and operate a public benefit facility in the beautiful historic
Roth building," said City Manager Frank Benest. The building
formerly housed medical offices at 300 Homer Avenue in Palo Alto.
"We're willing to work with groups and encourage people to
give us a call and start discussions," he added.
The property consists of a historically significant 10,000 square
foot, two-story Spanish Colonial Revival style original building
and a 7,000 square foot addition that proposers may choose to retain
or demolish. Constructed in 1931, the original Roth building is
one of the most important works of Palo Alto's premier architect,
Birge Clark. Terms of the option to lease include a 30-year term
and the requirement that the property be leased by a non-profit
organization for uses providing public benefit and public access.
"It's a beautiful building in a central location, and has
the potential to be a major center for non-profits," said Benest.
