GUN LOCKS AT PALO ALTO POLICE DEPARTMENT
Palo Alto, CA -- As part of a continuing campaign to promote
firearm safety, the Palo Alto Police Department has announced that
it will be a permanent gunlock distribution site for community residents.
Together with the Santa Clara/San Mateo County SAFE KIDS Coalition
and Lucille Packards Childrens Hospital, the Department
is providing educational materials, safety tips, and free gunlocks
to firearm owners. This is one of 29 permanent sites in the two-county
area. Our Police Department is committed to providing any
resource we can in order to help protect our children, said
Police Chief Designate Lynne Johnson.
The device is a MasterLock that meets the requirements of Penal
Code Section 12088 and works with most rifles, shotguns, revolvers
and semi-automatic pistols. To arrange for an appointment to
get a free gunlock and instructions on how to install it, call Officer
Scott Savage at 650-329-2337. (Please leave your firearms at
home!)
