Celebrate National Library Week at the Palo Alto City Library

Palo Alto, CA -- It’s National Library Week - a time to celebrate the contributions of libraries and librarians - and the perfect time for our community to come together at the library. First sponsored in 1958, National Library Week is a national observance sponsored by the American Library Association and libraries across the country each April.

The Palo Alto City Library is celebrating National Library Week from Saturday, April 14 through Saturday, April 21. The public is invited to attend and participate in three free programs:

For Kids:

Green Thumb Stories and Crafts with Librarians Melissa and Cheryl Saturday, April 14 at 2pm at the Mitchell Park Library
Little gardeners-to-be, ages 3 and up, are invited to a fun-filled program of stories, songs, and poems about plants and trees. Attendees will be able to decorate flower pots and plant seeds to “jump start” their own gardens.

For All Ages:

Amigos Music and Poetry-- Featuring Amigos Music and Adaku
Friday, April 20 at 7pm at the Main Library
Bring a Friday night date, family, kids, and neighbors for this fun-filled evening of live Americana music and poetry. Desserts and refreshments will be served.

For Teens:

Saturday Night Slam—Featuring Gunn High School Slam Team
Saturday, April 21 at 7pm at the Mitchell Park Library
Teens are invited to perform, judge, listen, eat and boogie at Saturday Night Slam.

National Library Week programs are provided with the generous support of the Friends of the Palo Alto Library. For more information, visit the Palo Alto City Library website at www.cityofpaloalto.org/library.
