Meeting on April 11 with Lieutenant Governor Garamendi and Palo Alto City Council on Climate Protection
Palo Alto, CA --
Palo Alto Mayor Yoriko Kishimoto invites the community to a Special Study Session on April 11 with California Lt. Governor John Garamendi on climate protection and other legislative topics. The meeting will be held at 2 PM in the Palo Alto City Council Chambers at 250 Hamilton Avenue, Palo Alto.
“We are very pleased to have this opportunity to meet with Lt. Governor Garamendi and discuss climate protection and other legislative issues we are concerned about at the local level,” said Mayor Kishimoto. “After our study session we would like to hear comments from the invited regional and neighboring leaders, as well as members of the business community, public service leaders and citizens.”
In her State of the City Address, Mayor Kishimoto emphasized that “ Palo Alto is committed to reducing greenhouse gas emissions to 2000 levels by 2010, 1990 levels by 2020 and by 80% below 1990 by 2050. This is a daunting challenge, especially given that we are at the center of a global economic engine.” Success in this endeavor will require collaborative solutions with state, regional and local governments, as well as with citizens and businesses.
