Main Library Construction Closure Extends One Day

Palo Alto, CA -- Due to unanticipated construction delays, Palo Alto’s Main Library will be closed on Saturday, March 24. The 48-year old building is undergoing an interior construction project designed to free up more floor space for public use. Although this three month long improvement project has been planned to minimize impact on customers, the Main Library has been closed for the past week in order to ensure public safety.

The Mitchell Park, College Terrace and Downtown libraries will be open during their usual business hours on Saturday. Telephone and online reference service and access to the catalog and other electronic resources will continue to be accessible 24/7.

The Main Library construction project was approved by Council in 2005 and funded through the City’s Infrastructure Management budget. Further information is available at the Library’s website at http://www.cityofpaloalto.org/library/
