Arrested in Foiled Burglary
Palo Alto, CA --On 3-19-2007 at
approximately 10:32 a.m., a passing citizen called 911 to report
two black males crouching behind the bushes at a residence at 1061
Stanley Ave. Palo Alto police officers surrounded the residence
and conducted a search of the grounds. Officers discovered evidence
of an attempted Burglary where a window was broken and the screen
was damaged. The residents were not home at the time.
While officers were interviewing witnesses with further suspect
information, another report of suspicious persons in the area of
the 600 block of Iris Way was reported at 10:57am, approximately
5 blocks from the Stanley Address. Witnesses described two black
males walking around private yards in that area, which matched the
description of the possible Burglary suspects. Additional units
were called in and a large perimeter was set up around the area
of the 500 block of Hilbar Ave. where the suspects were last seen
by patrolling officers. The suspects fled from offices and continued
to jump fences into different residences in the area. Menlo Park
K-9 officers were requested to assist in the search. Minutes after
the K-9 began searching the area, the suspects were apprehended
in the front yard of a house on Hilbar Ave at 11:24am.
The two suspects are identified as Jamar Williams, 18yrs old, and
Derail Robinson, 22yrs old. Both suspects are residents of E. Palo
Alto. The suspects were booked into the Santa Clara County Main
Jail on charges of Attempted Burglary, Conspiracy to Commit Burglary,
and Resisting Arrest. Palo Alto Police Detectives are continuing
the investigation.
