Daytime Residential Burglaries
|
Palo Alto, CA -- Four
residential burglaries occurred throughout the City on November
29, between the hours of 7am and 3pm. One other residential burglary
was attempted during the same time period. The burglaries were discovered
on the 400 block of El Capitan Place, the 2400 block of Chabot Terrace,
the 2000 block of Edgewood Drive and the 4000 block of Ben Lomond
Drive. The attempted burglary was also on the 2000 block of Edgewood
Drive . The common items taken in all of these cases were jewelry
and electronics. In three of the cases, entrance was made through
open doors or windows.
The
Police Department also received several solicitor calls and suspicious
person calls throughout the City. Police officers patrolled neighborhoods
and contacted some of the solicitors located.
The
Palo Alto Police want to remind residents that burglaries are still
occurring throughout the City, although at a much reduced rate than
we've seen in the recent past. We also want to thank the citizens
who notified the police concerning illegal solicitors and suspicious
people. Remember, if approached by persons claiming to work for
the City of Palo Alto or solicitors collecting monies or selling
items such as magazines, feel free to request City of Palo Alto
identification from City employees, or a City of Palo Alto permit
from solicitors.
The
police continually ask the public to call the police when suspicious
activity occurs in your community. Notify close neighbors when leaving
for extended periods of time. Get to know your neighbors and their
daily habits. Be a good witness and write down license numbers and
physical descriptions of suspicious persons, and most important,
contact the police as soon as possible when crimes occur.
