Palo Alto, CA -- On November 25, 2006, at 12:07 p.m., Palo Alto Police received a 911 call reporting a domestic violence in progress in the 200 block of Curtner Avenue . The first police officers on the scene found an open door leading into an apartment. The apartment was empty but had obvious signs that a violent struggle had taken place inside. As officers finished searching the apartment, a witness came forward and reported seeing a male and female running from the apartment just before police arrived.

Police searched the area and located an injured female victim nearby. Paramedics responded and treated the victim.

Shortly after 2 p.m., police received information that the suspect was on a bus heading to the University Avenue Caltrain station. The suspect was taken into custody when the bus arrived.

The suspect was identified as 33-year old Joshua McGriff, of East Palo Alto . McGriff was charged with domestic battery and booked into the Santa Clara County Main Jail.
