Designed by Birge Clark and built in 1934, this attractive Spanish Mediterranean-style complex is home to the City of Palo Alto's Recreation Department and two theaters. Rooms are available for rent for meetings, weddings, receptions, and parties. 

Stern Ballroom
This large wood floored room has two fireplaces, a wood-beamed cathedral ceiling with six art deco chandeliers and a wall of windows to let in natural light. The room is perfect for large parties and receptions. It measures 70 feet by 40 feet and can accommodate 300 guests for assemblies and 200 for dining.

Community Room & Fireside Room
Both rooms are carpeted wall-to-wall and make perfect settings for meetings and smaller events. The Community Room measures 45 feet by 25 feet and can accommodate 125 guests for assemblies and 75 for dining. The Fireside Room measures 25 feet by 26 feet and can accommodate 50 guests for an assembly and 35 for dining.

Kitchen
Located between the Community and Fireside Rooms, the kitchen is equipped with a standard four burner stove/oven, refrigerator, sink, microwave oven, dishwasher, and extensive counter space.

Outdoor Patio
The enclosed patio is accessible through both the Community and Fireside rooms. With a large lawn area, the patio makes an excellent setting for spring and summer events. It measures approximately 70 feet by 90 feet, and can accommodate up to 250 guests for assemblies and 150 for dining.

Rental Event Packages
For larger events, rental packages often allow more guests to be accommodated at a more economical price. All of the indoor rooms, the kitchen, and the patio can be rented for $260 per hour (residents), $390 per hour(non residents), including facility attendants.  This package requires a five hour minimum.

The Fireside Room can be paired with the Patio at an hourly rate of $100(residents), $150 (non-residents). The Community Room can be paired with the Patio at an hourly rate of $110 (residents), $165 (non-residents). No hourly minimum applies to this package.

Rental Applications
Rental applications are available by download, by mail, or in person at the main counter in the Lucie Stern Community Center during regular business hours, Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.

Rooms may be reserved up to twelve months in advance of an event. While available dates may be confirmed in person or over the telephone, an application must be submitted before a date can be reserved.

All facility rentals require proof of general liability insurance naming the City as an additional insured for a minimum of $1,000,000.
