Palo Alto Public Works completed the road maintenance work on Embarcadero Road a week ahead of schedule. The maintenance and cleaning work that began on Monday, Nov. 28 between Emerson and El Camino was expected to take two weeks, but crews finished it in time for the morning commute on Friday, Dec. 2.
The work was necessary to deal with the dirty and unsightly problem coming from hundreds of pigeons living in the I-beams underneath the Caltrain tracks. Due to the continual maintenance and clean up costs associated with this, the Public Works Department installed bird netting during the closure period to deter the birds from roosting in the structure.
There are no further road closures planned at this time along Embarcadero Road.
