Community Review Needed for Final Stages of Parks Master Plan
The City is in the final stages of its long-range, 25-year Master Plan for Parks, Trails, Open Space and Recreation and the public is invited to participate in the online review of the draft plan document. The survey will be available for input until Friday, Dec. 9.
The goal of the Parks, Trails, Natural Open Space and Recreation Master Plan is to gain clear guidance on future renovations, capital improvement projects, and funding for parks, trails, open space and recreation facilities. It is also needed to ensure that open space and the needs of future generations are appropriately balanced.
Palo Alto has 36 parks and open space preserves covering approximately 4,165 acres, plus over 40 miles of trails. The last comprehensive Master Plan for the City's parks was completed in 1965.
