Community Feedback Sought at Meeting for New Accessory (Second) Dwelling Unit Regulations

The City is in the process of revising and updating Accessory Dwelling Unit (ADU) regulations as directed by the City Council in October 2015 as means to help increase affordable housing. Any changes must minimize impacts to the community character with sensitivity to neighborhood design standards. Changes are also being proposed to bring our existing code in compliance with newly adopted state legislation that goes into effect in January 2017.

The Planning and Transportation Commission (PTC) will be holding a meeting at 6 p.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 30 at City Hall and the public is invited to attend to share their input on the issue. At the meeting, Staff will present the PTC a draft ordinance with suggested changes to the existing ADU regulations. If you have written comments for the PTC, please email them before the close of business on Tuesday, Nov. 29 to ensure that your comments will be received for the meeting.
