As part of Palo Alto’s Healthy City, Healthy Community priority set by Council, the City is partnering with the Palo Alto Family YMCA to bring free health screenings, fitness and nutrition classes, and other well-being events to the second annual Palo Alto Community Health Fair on Saturday, September 10. The event runs from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Mitchell Park Community Center and Park.
Healthy City, Healthy Community was adopted as a Council priority in 2015 and encourages social, cultural and physical environments that promote healthy living and creative expression in our communities.
The Palo Alto Community Health Fair is open to all ages and includes a series of physician-led talks on a variety of health issues including diabetes, sports injury prevention, sports performance, mental health and Parkinson’s Disease. Pre-registration is encouraged for many of the health lectures.
The fair coincides with Suicide Prevention Awareness Month and Project Safety Net is organizing a QPR Suicide Prevention Training course that can help bring greater education and emergency response to mental crisis.
There will also be a Teen Wellness Lab, martial arts performances and instruction, a scavenger hunt and various dance and music performances.
