The City Council unanimously voted to set a special election for November 5 to allow the community to decide whether an approved project on Maybell Avenue should move forward. On June 28, 2013, the City Council approved the 567-595 Maybell Avenue Planned Community rezone overlay. The ordinance permits the applicant to develop a project consisting of 60 senior affordable units and 12 market rate units. The PC ordinance also allows the property owner to develop a project consistent with the existing zoning (R2 & RM-15). If the owner elected to develop consistent with the underlying zoning, approximately 34 to 46 units would be allowed. For more information on the project, go here.
