Project Background: This project is part of the Emergency Water Supply and Storage Project which was approved by Council in 2007. The Emergency Water Supply and Storage Project includes the installation of three new wells, rehabilitation of five existing wells, rehabilitation of the Mayfield Pump Station and construction of a new water storage reservoir and pump station at El Camino Park. Click here to learn more about the project and November 2007 Ballot Measure. In May 2010, the design contract for the Well Rehabilitation Project was awarded (CMR 232:10) and preliminary engineering work was begun. In May 2011, all design activities were completed and the project was issued for bid. Anderson Pacific Engineering Construction was awarded the construction project in August 2011 (CMR #1660).  As of July 2013, all five wells have been rehabilitated. However, the Utilities Department will be coming back to complete some remaining items early 2014. Remaining items include site paving and installation of small above ground equipment.

Environmental Impact Report for this project was certified by Council in March of 2007.  Click here for Draft Environmental Impact Report (EIR) prepared November 2006.

Scope:  The work to be performed under this project includes the demolition of the existing mechanical and electrical equipment, well buildings and hardscape and construction of new mechanical and electrical equipment, utility piping and hardscape at each well site. New water, storm and electrical utilities will be installed and connected to the City’s existing distribution systems. Once completed, the five rehabilitated wells will supply water to the City’s distribution system during emergencies that disrupt the normal water supplies.
