Wastewater Engin. & Operations

The City of Palo Alto Wastewater Engineering Section is responsible for planning, designing, budgeting and construction of major capital improvements to the city’s wastewater collection system. This program rehabilitates or replaces about 200,000 linear feet of wastewater mains and 2,000 service laterals each year.

The Wastewater Collection Operations Section is responsible for cleaning, maintaining, operating and regulatory compliance of the city’s sanitary collection (sewer) system.

Community Workshop for Utilities Strategic Plan Update
The City of Palo Alto Utilities is hosting a community workshop to provide information on our Strategic Planning efforts and gather public input.

Crossbores---Gas & Sewer Safety Inspection Program
Since July 2011, the Utilities Department has been actively implementing the next phase of its gas-sewer crossbore inspection program.

Promotional card reminding customers that due to the possibility of gas lines crossbored into sewer lines, it is critical to call the City first when there is a sewer clog. We will verify it is safe for you or your plumber to proceed with clearing the sewer line.
