Street Maintenance Program Projects

FY 2017 Asphalt Paving Project
This project includes the repaving of various City streets. Prior to repaving, the streets will have damaged curbs, gutters, sidewalk, driveway aprons, and concrete road base repaired to City standards. For more information please view the

FY 2017 Lincoln Avenue and Middlefield Road Resurfacing Project
Middlefield Road from Forest Avenue to Lowell Avenue will be reconstructed with continuous exposed curb and gutters to match the adjacent section north of Forest Avenue to Hamilton Avenue, constructed in the FY 2016 Alma Street and Middlefield Road Paving Project. All driveway aprons will be replaced as part of the gutter installation and widened as needed. All street corners will receive new concrete curb ramps to comply with current ADA standards. The asphalt roadway will be milled up to three inches and repaved with rubberized asphalt concrete (RAC). Lincoln Avenue from Middlefield Road to Bryant Street. The storm drain main replacement project was complete in February 2017 and the road is ready for repaving. The road surface will be milled to the concrete base and resurfaced with hot mix asphalt concrete. Any damaged concrete road base will be replaced along with specific sections of damaged curbs, gutters and sidewalks. University Circle Pavement Repairs
The University Circle Pavement Repairs Project will start on August 7, 2017 and will end on September 21, 2017.  This project will replace damaged concrete slabs and greatly improve the pavement condition of this highly used transit area. This project includes replacing 12,000 square feet of concrete pavement, installing of 870 square feet of new sidewalk and installing and/or replacing six curb ramps. The pavement repairs will be conducted in three phases, each within a different section of the circle. The contractor will have ten days to complete each phase. This phasing allows for full access to the businesses within University Circle and proper curing time for the concrete pavement. Stanford Marguerite pick up and drop off will remain at the transit center utilizing the bus depot.  Bus stops for VTA (flyer) and Samtrans (flyer) will be temporarily relocated to Quarry Road during construction. The project also includes construction of a new concrete sidewalk as well as adding Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) compliant curb ramps to the island in front of Macarthur Park restaurant. FY 2018 Street Preventive Maintenance Project
This contract will apply a slurry seal on project streets to provide a new roadway surface and prevent further deterioration. Prior to the application of the slurry seal, the Contractor will perform preparation work that typically includes removal of existing striping, base repairs, and crack sealing followed by restriping.
