Pedestrian Struck and Killed by Vehicle; Driver Arrested for DUI
An adult pedestrian was struck and killed this morning after a vehicle left the roadway, struck a power pole, and rolled over on East Bayshore Road. The driver of the vehicle survived and was uninjured, and police have arrested him for vehicular manslaughter, felony DUI, and misdemeanor unlicensed driving.

Third Indecent Exposure Occurs This Week; Adult Victim This Time
For the third time this week, an indecent exposure occurred on a Palo Alto neighborhood street, but this time the victim was an adult female. Police are unsure if the suspect from today’s incident is the same man from earlier in the week.

Another Flashing Case with Juvenile Victim Occurs
Just over 24 hours after a man exposed himself to a 14-year-old female pedestrian, police are investigating a second indecent exposure that occurred this evening with a 10-year-old girl. Police are on high alert, are adding additional staffing, and are asking for the public’s assistance in immediately reporting suspicious behavior to authorities.

Juvenile Arrested for Robbery Attempt
Police arrested a 14-year-old juvenile last Friday after he shot a 9-year-old acquaintance in the arm with a BB gun and demanded money from him. The younger boy was not seriously injured.

Police are looking for a man in a blue pick-up truck who followed a 14-year-old female pedestrian for a few blocks, then pulled up next to her and exposed himself before driving away.

Police Arrest Suspect Following Extended Manhunt
A nearly four-and-a-half hour police manhunt in the neighborhood north of downtown Palo Alto yesterday ended with the arrest of the suspect after an alert patrol officer spotted him emerging from a home within the search area under the unlikeliest of circumstances: as it turns out, the suspect had chatted for hours inside the residence after spontaneously befriending the homeowner.

Residential Burglaries on the Rise in South End of Palo Alto
There have been 15 residential burglaries reported to the Palo Alto Police Department in the month of September, a recent increase that appears to be happening in the south end of Palo Alto. Police are urging the public to take normal precautions to protect their property, and police continue to implement a multi-faceted suppression plan to slow the burglary increase. Police Impersonator Pulls Over Teenaged Bicyclist, Displays Weapon
A juvenile male high school student was pulled over by a police impersonator, who displayed either a stun gun or a handgun while seated in his car. After reprimanding the student for committing a traffic violation, the suspect drove away and remains at large.

Officer Interrupts Violent Assault in Parking Lot, Arrests Suspect
An alert patrol officer interrupted a violent assault late Saturday night in a downtown parking lot, coming upon a suspect who had beaten a man to the ground with a cane and was kicking him in the head. The officer arrested the suspect after a brief foot pursuit, and later booked the suspect for assault with a deadly weapon, robbery, resisting arrest, and a hate crime. Two victims sustained minor physical injuries.

On Thursday morning, detectives arrested a suspect for the July 11 battery of a woman at a College Terrace neighborhood park, days after deputies from the Stanford Department of Public Safety arrested the same man when he committed a similar crime on the Stanford University campus.

A man attempting a parallel parking maneuver on University Avenue may have accidentally accelerated, striking another parked vehicle before driving onto the sidewalk and colliding with five pedestrians. Police Arrest Suspect After Failed Stolen Vehicle Attempt
Police arrested a suspect early Saturday morning after he tried to steal a car from a driveway, repeatedly backing into another car before being confronted by a resident and fleeing. With the help of a police dog, officers found the suspect hiding in a nearby yard, took him into custody without incident, and booked him into jail.

Police Arrest Suspect for Robbery, Criminal Threats, and Battery
Police arrested a suspect on Monday afternoon after he confronted a group of juveniles who had thrown small noise-making fireworks off of a parking garage roof. The suspect robbed one of the juveniles of money, pushed another one, and threatened to throw them off the top of the garage. No one was injured and police took the suspect to jail.

An alert school resource officer providing security at a high school graduation ceremony last night recognized a wanted suspect in the crowd. At the conclusion of the ceremony, as officers moved in to make the arrest, the suspect fled on foot but was apprehended a short distance away and booked for an array of charges.

A car thief chose the wrong car to steal on Monday in San Jose, choosing one that was not only equipped with LoJack, but one that also had the victim’s iPhone with GPS tracking software in the glove compartment. Police in San Jose teamed up with officers in Palo Alto, who recovered the car and arrested the suspect.

Police Arrest Suspect for Strong-Arm Robbery of Bicyclist
Police arrested a man for strong-arm robbery yesterday morning five minutes after he pulled a passing bicyclist to the ground, assaulted him, and stole his cell phone. The victim sustained moderate injuries but did not require transport to a hospital. Officers recovered the cell phone and took the suspect to jail.

Police Arrest Three Juveniles for Residential Burglary, Recover Gun

Today, detectives tracked down and arrested the outstanding suspects, one of whom fled and discarded a loaded handgun before being taken into custody. All three suspects were juveniles.

An officer responding to several 9-1-1 calls reporting a suspect's bizarre behavior in downtown Palo Alto was soon in a fight for his life when the suspect ripped the officer’s holstered firearm from the duty belt and pointed it at the officer. Another officer had to use their TASER to help subdue the suspect before they were able to take the suspect into custody.

Officer Swims into Creek to Rescue, Then Arrest Wanted Felon
A wanted felon running from police attempted to get away by swimming across San Francisco Creek at the Palo Alto Baylands during a high tide, but experienced distress halfway across and went under the water. An officer swam into the creek, rescued the man, and pulled him safely back to shore. Police later booked him into jail.

Neighbor’s Call Leads to Arrest of Bike Thieves; Drugs, Stun Gun Found
An alert neighbor who witnessed a bike theft made a timely call to police and provided a license plate, enabling officers to stop the two suspects nearby. Police recovered two stolen bicycles and located narcotics, a stun gun, and a bag of burglary tools in the suspect vehicle. Police booked both suspects for an array of charges.

Armed Robbery Occurs in Neighborhood Park
While visiting Robles Park on Thursday evening, a man and his young child were the victims of an armed robbery. Two suspects, one armed with a knife and the other armed with a handgun, stole the adult victim's property then punched him in the face and slashed his forearm with the knife. The victim sustained a minor injury and was treated at the scene by personnel from the Palo Alto Fire Department. The young child was not physically harmed. The suspects fled the park on foot and remain at large.
