Armed Robbery and Sexual Assault Occurs Inside Hotel Room
Over the weekend, a suspect armed with a knife who had pre-arranged to meet a woman inside a hotel room robbed her of cash, then committed a sexual assault. He also attempted to rob an associate of the woman as he left the hotel room. There were no injuries. Police are asking for the public's assistance with identifying the suspect.

Police Arrest Suspect for Strong-Arm Robbery
Police arrested a man for strong-arm robbery overnight after he stole cash from a woman downtown and bit her when she tried to hold onto her money. Detectives do not believe this suspect is involved in any of the other street robberies that have occurred downtown in recent weeks.

Detectives Arrest Suspects from December Liquor Store Robbery
Detectives recently identified and arrested the two suspects responsible for the armed robbery of a Midtown Palo Alto liquor store in December 2012. The suspects wound up being the same two people arrested by patrol officers on January 5, 2013, for carjacking a woman in the California Avenue business district.

Two Juveniles Arrested After Bringing Weapons to School
In the last week, police have arrested two juveniles for bringing weapons onto the Palo Alto High School campus during school hours in two separate, unrelated incidents. Prompt action on behalf of students, school staff, and police ensured that both situations were dealt with safely. No one was injured during either incident. School administrators have taken immediate disciplinary action against both students.

Police arrested a man today for indecent exposure after he exposed himself to a woman yesterday morning as they both walked down a street just north of downtown. Police do not believe this case is related to two prior indecent exposure incidents that occurred earlier in January.

Alert Neighbor’s Call Leads to Arrest of Package Thief
An alert neighbor called 9-1-1 after watching a suspect steal a package off a neighbor's porch on New Year’s Day. Police located the suspect nearby and arrested him for a multitude of charges, including weapons violations and possession of narcotics. Detectives have since connected the suspect to a similar theft in San Jose and are conducting follow-up investigation into other property found in his possession which may have been taken in two other package thefts from porches in the San Jose area.

A woman sleeping near a downtown sidewalk was beaten by an unknown suspect during a robbery attempt early Sunday morning, shortly after another failed robbery attempt occurred a few blocks away. Police believe the two incidents are likely related.

A Palo Alto resident received a call from his house cleaner after she found a stranger rummaging through the house. The victim came home immediately and found the suspect trying to steal his vehicle. A timely call to the police led to the arrest of the suspect on several charges including residential burglary and attempted vehicle theft.

Early this morning, a female jogger was able to free herself from a man who approached her from behind and bear-hugged her, grabbing her breast in the process and possibly trying to pull her down.
