Our first tri-city Gun Buy Back event was a resounding success! Held on February 23, 2013 at the East Palo Alto City Hall, the community turned in well over 300 firearms in less than three hours.
The tri-city Gun Buy Back event was a unique collaboration between public and private partners. Three police departments (Palo Alto, Menlo Park, and East Palo Alto) teamed up with a local non-profit organization (Protect Our Children, Inc.) to coordinate the event. Over $50,000 in privately-raised funds from members of our community paid for the firearms. It is likely that another tri-city Gun Buy Back event will be held in the future.
