Barking dog complaints:

  • Los Altos Hills: Refer complaints to Santa Clara County Sheriff's Department (408-299-3233).
  • Unincorporated Santa Clara County, Stanford University, Moffett Field, San Antonio Hills: On-duty County ACO's might provide some services. Call 408-465-2920 to discuss.

Animal quarters sanitation:

Pooper-scooper law:

Animal cruelty or abuse investigations:

Mountain lion complaints:

For all communities in our jurisdiction, plus unincorporated Santa Clara County, Stanford University, Moffett Field, and San Antonio Hills:

  • To report sightings or observations, contact a Palo Alto naturalist 650-329-2382.
  • To request assistance in protecting pets, or evacuating residents or animals at risk, contact an ACO through Dispatch 650-329-2413.
  • To report an incident (an attack or pursuit of humans or pets), or for information on obtaining a "deprivation permit" which allows residents to pursue mountain lions, contact a California Department of Fish & Game warden at 408-429-9252.
  • In the event of an incident involving an immediate threat to human life--where the lion must be shot--contact the local police or sheriff.
