Feature - 102 University is currently under review for LEED-NC Platinum Certification from the U.S. Green Building Council. Designed by Bellomo Architects, 102 University is a mixed-use project with direct access to public transportation. The project includes the first green roof, or vegetated roof, in the City. Green roofs decrease building heat gain, increase water retention on site, and allow opportunities for urban, organic agriculture.
The Department of Planning and Community Environment has a variety of initiatives aimed at improving the built and natural environment in Palo Alto from “greening” the City’s Comprehensive Plan, easing use of bicycle paths, improving the energy efficiency of new and existing buildings, to protecting the urban canopy and encouraging electric vehicle infrastructure.
“How we can enhance the natural and built environment, while improving the local economy and health of our citizens is at the forefront of every decision we make.” Curtis Williams, Department Director
