Project Look Docent Program

Join the Palo Alto Art Center’s Docent Program

Project Look is the Palo Alto Art Center's school tour program for Kindergarten through 8th graders. Docents lead a 45 minute gallery tour and assist with a hands-on art activity. They engage children in discussion by helping them look at, relate to, and talk about art. Docents are volunteer enthusiasts of all different ages and backgrounds who share an interest in contemporary art and enjoy working with children. The Project Look docent program engages docents as active participants in the development of tours and studio projects

As a docent you will have the opportunity to learn about art, meet interesting people, and make a difference in your community.
New docents will participate in mandatory special training at the beginning of the school year on inquiry-based gallery tours for children and the current exhibitions. Docents then provide one tour a week. Tours are Tues-Fri, 9:00 a.m., 10:30 a.m., and 12:15 p.m. throughout the school year (September to May).

New docent training will take place on September 5, 8, and 12 from 9:30 a.m. - 12 p.m. To apply to participate in new docent training, contact Grace Pegan Abusharkh, Director of Volunteer Engagement at or 650-617-3520.
