On October 14, City officials launched a 5% Carbon Dioxide Reduction Goal and helped to kick off of the United Nations Association Film Festival
The City of Palo Alto, several nonprofit conservation groups and organizers of the United Nations Association Film Festival (UNAFF) hosted a press conference to launch Palo Alto's communitywide goal of reducing carbon dioxide emissions by 5% by 2012 while drawing attention to the UNAFF.
The theme of UNAFF 2009, which took place in Palo Alto and at Stanford University, was "ENERGY & THE WORLD". The City of Palo Alto marked the occasion by launching its community-wide goal of reducing carbon dioxide emissions by 5% by 2012 as called for in the City’s Climate Protection Plan.
