Water Conservation Programs - Commercial

Current Local Conditions

Due to the dry winter and hot summer weather, the San Francisco Public Utilities Commission (SFPUC) has asked the public to reduce water use by 10%.  While mandatory cutbacks once feared necessary will likely not be required this year, SFPUC officials cautioned that failing to continue conserving may make rationing necessary next year if dry conditions continue. To help you use water more efficiently, below is a list of indoor and outdoor water conservation rebates and programs. For additional water saving tips and ideas, visit http://www.watersavinghero.com.

For more information about water and energy savings, please contact your Account Representative or call CPAU Marketing Services at (650) 329-2241.

Landscape Rebate Program
The Landscape Rebate Program provides rebates for businesses that improve their outdoor water use efficiency by replacing high water use landscape and/or upgrading to high efficiency irrigation equipment.  This new program is a combination of several landscape rebate programs into one.

  • Palo Alto businesses can receive a rebate of $1.50 per square foot of turf grass removed and replaced with approved low-water using plants and/or permeable hardscape.  The maximum rebate amount for Palo Alto businesses is $30,000.
  • Rebates are available for installing weather-based irrigation controllers, rain sensors, converting overhead spray to drip irrigation, replacing rotating nozzles and spray heads, and more.  Rebate amounts vary, based upon the project and cost.

To qualify for the Landscape Rebate Program, sites must participate in the Landscape Survey Program prior to beginning their project or purchasing materials.  For additional information regarding the program, please visit here.
