Project Update - January 2012: All trees have been removed. Construction activies for the next couple months include installation of irrigation and street light conduit, stump grinding and soil removal.
This project will replace aging infrastructure along San Antonio between Highway 101 and Middlefield Road. The San Antonio Landscaping and Median Project – Phase I, from Middlefield Road to Briarwood Way was completed in 2009. This second phase will complete the entire San Antonio corridor.
Construction will begin in November 2011 and last approximately ten months. Work will include: tree removal, sidewalk replacement, repair and replacement of deteriorating curb, installation of new more sustainable street trees, plant material and irrigation in the medians and sidewalk planting strips and resurfacing of the street. On-street parking will not be allowed in the construction area.
This project will provide a long term solution that will prevent problems associated with tree roots, improved road surface for vehicular and bicycle travel, reduce costly on-going road repairs and provide an aesthetic median planting to complete the San Antonio corridor.
